List
The List view shows a page's notes as a narrow list on the left, with the page of the chosen note beside it. Use it to go through many notes while one of them stays open.

Read the list and the page beside it
The list is a column of about 270 points at the left of the page. At its top is a view switch that names the current view, the Filter by name box and a count, such as 12 visible. The chosen note's page fills the rest, with its own title, chips and fields. Choosing a row changes that page and adds no entry to the history, so Back is not filled with every note you pass.
Move through the notes
Click a row, or use the arrow keys with the list focused. The page beside the list changes to the note you chose. The list itself does not edit names. To change a note, edit it in the page beside the list.
Find a note in the list
Type in Filter by name to show only the notes whose name matches. The count changes to say how many are visible. The text is not saved, and clearing it shows every note again.
Sort and filter the list
The list follows the page's sort and conditions, set in View options: the same conditions a table filter uses, and the sort keys. The view bar's Filter and Sort buttons are not shown in List view, so open View options. The Sort menu there lists Name only, because the other columns come from the table, which is not on screen here. A sort set in the Table or Cards view still applies to the list. Filter by name is a separate box and is always available.
Which pages a list shows
An ordinary page lists its child notes. A supertag's page lists the notes that carry the supertag, and the notes that carry a supertag which extends it. Direct only, on the supertag page, narrows that to the notes with the supertag itself. A saved search lists its results, in its own order.
Combine it
- Side menu for children onlySide menu is the same layout for a page's own children, in outline order. Use it when the list is only the page's children.
- Tasks of one supertagOpen a #task page as a List to go through its tasks, with each task's fields on the right.
- Search results in a listA saved search can show as a List. Its results keep the search's order unless View options sets a sort, and the chosen result's page opens beside the list.
- Open BesideOpen a note in the other pane while the list stays where it is. The two panes keep separate histories.
Limits
- The list shows titles. For field values, use Table or Cards.
- Group is not offered in List view.
- Filter by name is cleared when the list shows another page.
- The list's view switch does not offer Calendar, Lanes or Side menu. Use the tab menu or View options to reach them.
