Sidebar and pinned pages
The sidebar keeps the places you return to in reach: Today, the Inbox, your supertags, the pages you pin and the pages you visited recently. Click a row to open it in the pane you are using.
- Show or hide
- ⌃⌘S or View ▸ Toggle Sidebar
- Pin a page
- the row's menu, Pin, or Go ▸ Pin Page
- Today
- ⇧⌘D or the Today row
- Keyboard
- ↑ and ↓ move between rows, Return opens
The rows at the top
Today opens today's page. Journal, when the workspace has one, holds the day pages. Inbox shows a count of the notes directly in it, and the tooltip says what the count covers. Supertags opens the supertags browser. Create new makes a note in the page you are on, or in the Inbox when that page cannot hold notes. Trash comes last in that group.
Pin pages, and find recent ones
Pin a page from its row's menu in the sidebar, or with Go ▸ Pin Page for the page you are on. The menu item then reads Unpin or Unpin Page. Pinned pages are kept in the Pinned list. Recents lists the last 20 pages you opened, so you can return to a page you left a while ago.
Supertags and saved searches
Supertags lists each supertag with its colour and the number of notes that use it. Click one to open its page. When there are many supertags, a filter field appears above the list. With the filter empty, drag a supertag up or down to reorder it, or use its menu's Move Up and Move Down. Its menu also has Pin, and Delete Supertag…. A Searches section lists your saved searches and is hidden until you make one.
Move around the sidebar with the keyboard
Tab moves into the sidebar and out of it again in one step. Once in, ↑ and ↓ move between rows, Home and End go to the first and last, and typing letters moves to the row whose name starts with them, if you type within a second of each letter. Return or Space opens the row.
Combine it
- Today from the sidebarPin a project you return to every day, so its page is one click away.
- A recent page in the paletteThe ⌘K palette shows recent pages before you type, so a page from Recents is also one search away.
- A supertag's notesOpen a supertag from the sidebar to see its page, its fields and the notes that carry it.
- Trash from the sidebarTrash is in the sidebar, and a note moved there can be restored with Undo or from the Trash page.
Limits
- Recents keeps the last 20 pages.
- A supertag's fields are on its page, not in the sidebar.
